An undergraduate student from the University Of Saint Joseph Beirut (USJ), Guy Rouhana takes first place at 2023 BLOMINVEST Bank VSE competition. Powered by Interactive Brokers, BLOMINVEST Bank manages a yearly virtual stock exchange (VSE) competition for university students in Lebanon in collaboration with the Capital Market Authority (CMA).
In its 17th edition, a two-round online trading competition attracted over 200 undergraduate and postgraduate students. The first round is an intra-university competition, driven by a designated student who acts as VSE Campus leader (VCL), while the second one is at the national level. Each eight-week round challenged participants to maximize profits by trading various securities, including US stocks, ETFs, and options).
In the first round, each university crowned a maximum of five students to proceed to the national competition. The finale, hosted at BLOMINVEST Bank’s Headquarters in Beirut with Master of Ceremonies George El Khoury from BLOMINVEST, witnessed a captivating 20-minute presentation by the 5 finalists about their trading strategies as well as their advantageous insights before the announcement of the winners and their respective prizes. The presentation is conducted in front of panels from capital market authority representatives and industry professionals.
