Radio One to invest $40 million in MGM Resorts (NYSE:MGM)

    MGM Resorts (NYSE:MGM), MGM National Harbor has always recognized and appreciated the diversity in Prince George’s County in Maryland. MGM is currently hoping that it will set selected to run the latest gaming license that the state has put up. With this, MGM will continue its efforts to embrace culture in the places and communities where MGM operate.

    MGM National Harbor is also upbeat in announcing the letter of intent with Radio One Inc. which is a nationally known media company that targets its African-American consumers specifically, Radio One will be investing close to $40 million in MGN which will make it an important and valued stakeholder at MGN National Harbor.

    Radio One has around 54 broadcast centers which it runs successfully in 16 urban markets. This makes Radio One among the largest broadcasting companies in the US. It also owns a major part of TV One which is cable network that is targeted towards African American viewers. It has a reach of around 58 million homes. Jim Murren Chairman and CEO of MGM Resorts International said that Radio One would be a great partner for MGM as it can help MGM reach the level of brand presence that they are looking for. It will also help the company communicate more with the African-American community on diversified platforms. He also added that MGM National Harbor would embrace the equality and diversity provided to add value to the company’s high performance teams.

    Chief Operating Officer of MGN National Harbor said that they look forward to working with Cathy Hughes who is the founder and the chairperson for Radio One. Adding that her knowledge of the community and her efforts make her a true success story, Radio One was founded in 1980 when Ms Hughes bought but one radio station in Washington DC.
