Boston, MA 09/16/2014 (wallstreetpr) – The problems are not getting over for the world’s largest retail brand. According to a report, the chief spokesman of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (NYSE:WMT) named David Tovar has decided to resign over false information in the resume. WMT found that Tovar lied about his academic record in the resume at the time of joining the company. The information was first revealed by a person close to this matter, who shared it with Bloomberg.
Insights of the issue:
As per the information made public by that person, recently WMT conducted a due-diligence screening in which it found that Tovar had put wrong information in the resume about receiving a Bachelors of Arts degree in 1996 from University of Delaware. Further investigation was conducted by the company as well as Bloomberg. An academic record official from University of Delaware told Bloomberg that Tovar never received any degree or diploma from the university. When WMT asked Tovar the reason for putting false information in the resume, he couldn’t say anything and decided to resign from Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (NYSE:WMT) immediately.
All the formalities of his resignation were executed last week itself, and WMT tried to keep this issue under the desk, but a person close to this matter revealed everything. He refused to present his identity as this matter was very confidential. Reporters tried to get in touch with Tovar over phone or emails, but he was unavailable to answer any question. No one from Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (NYSE:WMT) came forward to comment on this issue immediately in U.S business hours.
A lot of adverse things have taken place in U.S. that have affected Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (NYSE:WMT)’s business significantly over the past some time. The market competition has also increased after Target Inc., and other retail players expanded their operations through various mergers, acquisitions and stores opening activities across the country.
