Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) CEO Dick Costolo witnessed a rough couple of years, as he tried to meet expectations of high user and sales growth. Even as the analysts scrutinize his leadership, the CEO seems unfazed and is in good spirits. Recently, Emily Chang of Bloomberg Television interview Costolo, wherein the leader talked about his philosophy of dealing with criticism while heading a company.
The problem of product head
When Twitter’s CEO, was questioned that why product heads have been changed five teams, since he became CEO, Costolo said that it is very vital for him to constantly review the performance of his team. He keeps on telling managers all the time that their job is to improve team, and not defend respective team. He considers present team as the best possible team for the company, and the management have taken all essential steps and made all tough decisions to get the right team.
The changing times
When asked how long the new team is going to stay in place, Costolo said that he don’t know, He explained that no one can ever say that it is the right team for the coming n days or coming period. There is always a constant need of assessing things.
Way to criticism
Costolo also explained how he separates himself as a person and CEO. He said that few years ago he was invited to do something for which her daughter said he should do it. However, he denied as he was invited for ‘what he was’ and not for ‘who he was’. He makes a point never to pay more attention on the title “CEO of the year.” It is the reason he don’t care about what people say. Also, he pays utmost attention while recruiting people as they should be willing to join Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR), and even in his absence should be able to place their trust in company.
