The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) Files For Drone-related Patents

Boston, MA 08/26/2014 (wallstreetpr) – The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) is looking to attract the viewers by introducing a new whole world of aerial movie screens. It wants the puppets to fly high in the sky. For the purpose, it has filed for the three drone-related patents. The plans of drone-powered air shows can be a great substitute for the other spectacles including the large-scale light shows and fireworks.

The anticipated change

Some of the companies including Disney want the U.S. government to give a thought on the commercial use of unmanned flight systems that are related with the government and military surveillance. The Federal Aviation Administration is reviewing the demands of industry and is believed to be in the process of drafting new rules that can allow the commercial use of drones. The uses can vary from The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) to company. Some can use it for TV news coverage while others can use for the package delivery. If the rules are changed, the options will remain open for industry.

The application

Disney published the three patent applications for aerial display systems on August 21, 2014. The display is varied with the floating projection screens, marionettes and floating pixels. The aerial display system is animated by drones. The distinguishing feature is the ability to pre-programme and control the drones from the ground. They will be monitored well so that there is no chance of aerial collisions even if there is a problem of wind gusts. A drone will feature a blimp-sized character when the display will be linked with marionettes. It will showcase the flight as described in the books and films. The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) has tried to change the prior flying character with an improved form. The inventors of three filed patents are James Alexander Stark of South Pasadena, Ca., Robert Scott Trowbridge of La Canada, Ca. and Clifford Wong of Burbank, Ca.
