Rite Aid Corporation (NYSE:RAD) disclosed that Steve Rempel has been named the Senior VP and Chief Information Officer of the company. In the new role, he will be responsibility to handle all the aspects of the technology and information operations including data security, computer systems, telecommunications and network infrastructure. He will also look after the continued advancement and execution of short-term as well as long-term information technology plans. He will report to Frank Vitrano who is Senior Executive VP and Chief Administrative Officer of Rite Aid.

His extensive retail experience will prove to be valuable to Rite Aid as the company advances with development of technology and services platforms and plans to further boost the business operations and improve the experiences of the valued associates and customers.
Prior to joining Rite Aid, Rempel was President, CEO and Chief Information Officer, for Balance Innovations. It is pioneer provider company of reconciliation and cash management applications for the retail industry. In his previous role with Balance, he had oversight for the technology plans and offered financial, operational and strategic direction.

Rempel started his career at Safeway Inc.(NYSE:SWY). He worked for 35 years with the largest food and drug retailer. He served on a number of information technology roles with increasing responsibility. He served as the group VP of Application Development. Also, he handled enterprise-wide responsibility of the information technology applications process, such as support, development, design, development and procurement. Rempel completed bachelor in business administration from the “University of the Fraser Valley.” Now he will start his new role with Rite Aid which is one of the country’s leading drugstore chains with almost 4,600 stores in thirty-one states.
