Que Paso con esta Compania de Bebidas?, Bebida Beverage Co. Rises Circa de 70% Hoy. (BBDA)

To translate, Bebida (Spanish for “drink”) Beverage Co. (OTC: BBDA) surged to a 68.8% gain at the market bell and the stroke of halftime between Spain and Portugal this afternoon. For those watching the scoreless first half, it was tough to see the result going in a different direction.

A direction that would be contrary to companies who aim to stake out their place in the billion dollar energy drink market was not found by the Portuguese, but rather by the makers of relaxation drinks. (Proper) Football/soccer is a fickle game, just as OTC markets and consumers are on most days. Today was proof that, not unlike a pill-popper from the 60’s, people need to both go up then come down. Thank you, Mr. Newton.

This is the strategy of Bebida Beverage, energy drinks for the morning, calming drinks for after the metaphorical time-clock is punched. Bebida makes both. Not terribly dissimilar to Benzedrine and Valium being produced by the same unnamed pharmaceutical company. Or for that matter, cross-training your staff in the early 90’s on being both a travel and a collection agent. The economy goes up, “You’re a travel agent.” Down? “Get on the phones and get that money people”, says the enlightened owner.

The core of its business, however, is the relaxation drink. KOMA Unwind ® “Liquid Relaxation” ™, KOMA Unwind Sugar-free ®”Liquid Relaxation” ™ and KOMA Unwind “Liquid Relaxation” Shot(tm) are the foil to Red Bull’s wings.

Today’s rise came on the heels of yesterday’s announcement of a major announcement. Similar to your girlfriend saying, “We need to talk.” Those words alone are capable of overshadowing the inevitability of a breakup, pregnancy, or…..well, that’s just about it. Rarely does “we need to talk” involve swatches for the new curtains she mentioned over dinner last month. The average person recognizes the gravity of the first statement and goes, or in this case, trades from there.

With vague buildup, CEO Brian Weber’s statement simply finished with, “Part of the excitement of having one of the fastest growing beverages in the world, is the amount of lives that can be effected by having a non alcoholic, non prescription solution to the anxieties and stresses of life in a tasty liquid solution.”

Forget Piranha Water, Forget J-Lo, the spokesdancer for Bebida, listen to Brian Weber. All trading decisions are your own, but expect more from Bebida here. Until the next announcement, or pre-announcement, a few links to keep you busy.
