ON Semiconductor Corp (NASDAQ:ONNN) Launches System-In-Package Solution For Precision-Sensing In Variety Of Mobile Medical Gadgets

Boston, MA 09/16/2014 (wallstreetpr) – Semiconductor components maker, ON Semiconductor Corp (NASDAQ:ONNN) announced the launch of Struix, a semi-customizable System-In-Page or SIP solution specifically meant for monitoring and precision sensing in a number of portable medical electronic devices.

SIP To Meet Demand

The ON Semiconductor Corp (NASDAQ:ONNN) disclosed that it has responded to the demands of quickly-evolving product development within the mobile medical market by launching SIP through its energy efficiency innovations, a statement from the company said. The electronic devices included heart rate monitors, glucose monitors, and electrocardiogram analyzers.

ON Semiconductor Corp (NASDAQ:ONNN) said that Struix has used advanced technology of die stacking to merge a custom-designed analog front-end or AFE with the 32-bit Application Specific Standard Product or ASSP microcontroller to structure a total miniature system. It said that by using customizable and standard components, Struix would be able to provide medical device makers the flexibility in design needed to make unique medical sensor interface applications without compromising either cost-effectiveness or improved time-to-market.

The company stated that by using its model of custom chip engagement, makers of medical devices could take advantage of a widespread design experience and intellectual property portfolio to meet tough feature besides performance-level needed for medical sensor applications. It also provides a complete and easy-to-use collection of development add-ins to simplify product development for IAR systems.

Management Comments

ON Semiconductor Corp (NASDAQ:ONNN) Senior Director of Consumer Health Solutions, Michel De Mey, said that Struix would be able to achieve higher system integration besides occupying less space in the board in medical devices as a result of advanced stacking technology compared to standalone solutions.

The senior Director also said that its SIP approach would cut down time for design, development risks apart from the costs related to the completely customized solutions. Flexibility in design was further improved due to its ULPMC10 microcontroller solution since it can easily update future microcontrollers from the company without the replacement of AFE, which was subject to Food and Drug Administration’s re-certification.
