Boston, MA 09/17/2014 (wallstreetpr) – Getting a license to operate casinos in the U.S. can be a daunting task. Recently, the Wynn Resorts, Limited (NASDAQ:WYNN) became the only casino company to get a license for casino operation in Boston. It defeated the rival, Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority for this purpose. In 2011, the legislators in Massachusetts had given an authority for casinos in three diverse regions of this U.S. state while just one license was given for building slot machine facility. MGM Resorts International (NYSE:MGM) have a license for casino operation in Springfield, while Penn National Gaming, Inc (NASDAQ:PENN) has the authority for slot-machine parlour creation in Plainville.
Casinos in the U.S. Going Exotic
Wynn has decided to impart a royal and exotic touch to the casinos for which it has received license from the Massachusetts Gaming Commission. Wynn will build a whole new resort worth $1.6 billion at Boston suburb area of Everett, where earlier there were was the chemical plant. MGM Resorts International (NYSE:MGM) plans to ferry the guests to resorts via low-profile boats. The guests will be transported across the harbour along with a glass exterior.
Wynn Resorts, Limited (NASDAQ:WYNN), which have the standing of cleanliness of the highest level “swayed away” the commissioner of Massachusetts Gaming Commission. Enrique Zuniga, the commissioner said that the resort company’s level of commitment towards cleanliness and capital investment will help in changing the history of the site.
Urban Revival of Sites through Resorts
The Massachusetts Gaming Commission has been giving away licenses in the past with the objective of urban revival of a few sites. MGM Resorts International (NYSE:MGM)’s Springfield license was also a proof of Commission’s efforts to move Massachusetts’s Gateway City towards urban restoration, economic opportunities, as well as new commerce era.
In June 2014, MGM Resorts International (NYSE:MGM) was awarded the casino license for Springfield area, which was the first nod for a casino in the Massachusetts Commonwealth.
