The company created the Candy Crush Saga that has been one of the most successful mobile game accessible all over the world. The game has received worldwide success with more than 100 million downloads. King Digital is launching the new studio in Stockholm to try and maintain a lead over the competition in the mobile gaming industry.
The company reported a 29% increase in net profits over the first quarter despite anticipations of low revenue in the first half of the financial year. The company has been on a mission to convince the growing number of players to start paying for in-game purchases. Achieving this mission has been a tough endeavor. The new offices in Sweden’s capital will focus on creating new games and new concepts or mobile platforms.
King Digital’s Candy Crush Franchise has lately been dropping in the Apps popularity charts, perhaps because of the increasing popularity of rival games. The company’s other popular games such as the Farm Heroes Saga seem to be stealing the popularity. Despite the drop, King Digital Entertainment PLC (NYSE:KING) plans to introduce a preinstalled version of Candy Crush on Microsoft’s Windows 10 Platform. The company also has two new upcoming titles that will be featured before the end of the year.
Despite the declining popularity, the mobile gaming company maintains that the game still boasts of a massive following. Since it was launched in 2012, it has been the highest selling game in App Store in the US. Candy Crush Soda Saga, the forerunner to Candy Crush Saga was ranked fifth best-selling game.
The Stockholm studio will be opened in 205. It will host already existing employees, but the company will recruit about 30 new employees after that. New recruits to be sought will include programmers, producers, and graphics artists.
