Hot Picks: MannKind Corporation (NASDAQ:MNKD), Valero Energy Corporation (NYSE:VLO) And Banco Santander Brasil SA (ADR)(NYSE:BSBR)

Boston, MA 02/19/2014 (wallstreetpr) – MannKind Corporation (NASDAQ:MNKD) the makers of the prandial insulin – AFREZZA – is expected to see make for much of the lost ground in recent times. Announcing poor revenues due to lowered cash-flow and increased focus on Research and Development, besides other expenses proved to be an expensive quarter for the medical equipment and drug maker. Executives during their conference call explained cash-flow and the renewed focus to commercialize Afrezza given its paradigm shift to delivering insulin in similar time and form as natural pancreatic insulin.

Valero Energy Corporation (NYSE:VLO) the biofuel maker, it appears has a bright future ahead, if expert commentary by energy analysts are to be believed. Expert suggestion of this nature was made by analysts, following the introduction of a bill in the Senate. Part of the bill was the Blenders Tax Credit or BTC, which was a tax-relief instrument offered to makers of biofuel. The biofuel industry is currently diversified in the type of bio raw materials being used to produce biofuel. Analysts now expect with in-line regulations in place, the industry will see smart forward movement. The Bill, in question, also expects to see that the tax-relief or BTC offered is made permanent for period of 3 years. New EPA for 2014 biodiesel RVO too is being raised from 1.28 gallons to more than 1.7 billion gallons.

Banco Santander Brasil SA (ADR)(NYSE:BSBR) does show upward movement in the second week of February, even as the Brazil-based bank did not have much to speak of about for its fourth quarter earnings in 2013. The quarter did see the bank sell – SantandeBrasil Asset Management and augmented net revenues with refis Tax Amnesty. The banking services provider otherwise did not see much profits due to rise in expenses matching the income. However, noteworthy was the long-term increase in the credit-NII.
