Ford Motor Company’s (NYSE: F) F-150 Lighting Pickup Truck Has 320 Mile Range

Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) has released the Ford F-150 Lightning pick-up trucks’ range estimates. Its base model will have a 230-mile range, while the extended range is 320 miles. The US Environmental Protection Agency was responsible for coming up with these numbers. The agency tested seven versions of the vehicles and found that the range was 20 more miles than what Ford had initially calculated.

It is unclear if Ford has considered cargo as it did in the past. The company might not want to overestimate the range for drivers using the vehicles to carry heavy equipment. This range could help Ford compete against Rivian R1T and Chevy Silverado EV.

Ford hires Kiersten Robinson as General Manager of Ford Blue

Meanwhile, Ford is placing Kiersten Robinson, its Human Resources executive, in the general manager position at Ford Blue. Robinson will also be the company’s president of operations in Canada and Mexico.

Jennifer Waldo will succeed Robinson in May. Before working for Ford, Waldo worked for Apple Inc (NASDAQ: AAPL). Moreover, the company is hiring Christopher Smith as its chief government affairs officer.

At the start of the month, the CEO and President of Ford, Jim Farley, had announced that the company would operate in two divisions. These were Ford Blue and Ford Model e. Ford Blue would continue to work on the company’s internal combustion engines. Ford Model e, on the other hand, would create electric vehicles.

Ford Blue’s president is Kumar Galhotra. The company will expect Robinson to report directly to him.

Apple Maps announces new feature for Ford

Ford has also announced that Apple Inc (NASDAQ: AAPL) will launch its Apple Maps’ EV routing. While Apple made this announcement in 2020, there has been no further confirmation of its plans until now.

The feature tells drivers about compatible charging routes in their oaths, the elevations, and charging levels. Furthermore, it shows them the battery amount left when they reach their destination.

Ford has recently released various electric vehicles. The company has invested in its electric vehicle operation in Europe to manufacture several vehicles by 2026. These moves enable the company to secure a leadership position in the electric vehicle space.
