Apply UV Inc. (NASDAQ: AUVI) has announced test results from an independent third-party lab confirming that its novel connected UVC disinfection platform for surface sterilization, SteriLumen Lumicide, can kill SARS-CoV-2.
SteriLumen Lumicide Ribbon effective against SARS-CoV-2
The study’s goal was to establish how effective the SteriLumen Lumicide Ribbon was against SARS-CoV-2 on surfaces. Independent scientific not-for-profit laboratory, CUBRC, Inc. (CUBRC), tested the SteriLumen Lumicide Ribbon’s ability to inactivate SARS-CoV-2 on two surface substrate materials, including ceramic and stainless steel at a single distance and two-time points. CUBRC’s carried out the testing at its CDC-approved Biosafety Level 3 facility.
Test results showed that at a distance of 2 inches, the SteriLumen Lumicide Ribbon attained viral inactivation (i.e., viral particles rendered non-infectious) of >99.908% at the 5-minute exposure time and 99.978% at the 20-minute exposure time on stainless steel. Equally, on ceramic, viral inactivation at 2 inches was > 99.975% and 99.996% after a five and 20-minute exposure time, respectively.
Q Saeed, Applied UV CEO, said that they had seen SteriLumen as a potent antimicrobial technology since its inception, effective against a wide range of pathogens, including viruses, bacteria, and fungi. The CEO said that SteriLumen’s Lumicide Ribbon can now destroy the SARS-CoV-2 that causes COVID-19 by a recognized independent laboratory.
ResInnova validated the Sterilumen Disinfecting System effective in pathogen killing.
ResInnova Laboratories, an independent microbiology testing lab specializing in antimicrobial technology, examined and validated Sterilumen Disinfecting System’s pathogen killing activity on September 17, 2020. The SteriLumen Disinfecting System was successful in lowering pathogens in the bathroom vanity/sink area, according to ResInnova’s findings, published in a paper dated September 8, 2017, and updated on May 8, 2020. The lab discovered that the SteriLumen Disinfecting System successfully eliminated OC43 human coronavirus (“OC43”), a SARS-CoV-2 surrogate.
