Apple Inc (NASDAQ: AAPL) Announces Plans to make New Additions to CarPlay

After Apple Inc (NASDAQ: AAPL) launched CarPlay in 2014, carmakers have used it widely. It is an interface that allows users to control music, make phone calls, and get directions using their iPhone. About 6000 car models now use Apple CarPlay.

Apple to make additions to CarPlay

After the massive success of CarPlay, Apple now plans to make additions to the interface. In a project known as IronHeart, the company plans to add features with access to the speedometer, climate control systems, and seats. Previous plans to venture into the car market have failed, including making an Apple car. With the interface, however, Apple has managed to get into the automobile industry. The project is still in its beginning stages and would require support from carmakers.

Not all carmakers are pleased with new features, as many are reluctant to give the company access to important control features. Moreover, the radio applications are only supported in a few cars, and the E.V. is not available in cars recently being shipped.

Some companies such as Tesla Inc (NASDAQ: TSLA) have ignored interfaces by Google and Apple altogether, choosing instead to build their own. Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) is also making plans for something similar.

Alphabet Inc Class A (NASDAQ: GOOG) asks Apple to support RCS

This announcement comes a day after Hiroshi Lockheimer, the SVP of Alplabet Inc Class A (NASDAQ: GOOG), asked the company to support RCS. RCS is a next-generation testing solution that might replace SMS as it is superior. Google is R.C.s’s most staunch supporter and plans to use it as its default texting solution in Android phones. However, RCS has also gained support from the rest of the world. Apple is yet to reply to Google.

Meanwhile, there have recently been rumors surrounding the pricing for Apple Watch Series 7. According to these rumors, the pricing for the item is similar to that of the Apple Watch Series 6. Apple has not announced its pricing for the product, only saying that it will begin at $399.

The rumors have been emphasized by Jon Proseer, who claims to have a list with some Apple Watch Series Products and their prices.
