Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) to Release Amazon Branded TV in October

Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) is planning to release Amazon-branded TV sets in October. The TVs will come in sizes 55-75 inches and will be powered by Alexa. Third parties like TCL will do manufacturing. An in-house developed TV is also in the works though no one knows when it will be released. The release date is only applicable for US markets.

The company has been working on this project for two years. The Amazon teams involved in the projects are Lab126 and Amazon Devices.

Amazon already has experience with TVs

Amazon partners with Best Buy to make and sell Toshiba and Insignia TV, which run its Fire TV software. The company also has the Amazon Fire TV Stick, the Amazon Fire TV Cube, and AmazonsBasics branded T in India, released in 2020. The Amazon Fire TV Stick can be hooked up to your TV. The Fire TV products are affordable and user-friendly. The process of the new TVs is still unknown. The Fire TV products range from $49.99 to $519.99

This new move will help the company compete against other TV makers such as LG and Samsung. Selling a TV set with the same operating system as the Fire TV products could also benefit the company. However, it is unclear that this is what they will do.

Amazon had recently made efforts to enter new sectors such as technology and gaming. The Amazons TV are just the latest project to show that the company is willing to expand its product base.

0ther Amazon releases

Amazon recently released their voice command feature known as the Adaptive volume, which a speaker could use even when in a noisy environment. The new Amazon Echo feature allows you to hear Alexa even when there is too much noise.

In India, the company has released free streaming service. The service, known as miniTv, is free and sponsored by ads. In a blog post on May 15, Amazon stated that miniTv has professionally curated ad created content in food, beauty, comedy shows, web series, tech shows, fashion and more. They have also released Prime Vide, which requires a subscription and offers the latest TV shows, award-winning Amazon Originals and the latest movies in English and nine Indian languages.
